Not all harmful molecules are tracked down in tap water

Surprisingly, not all harmful molecules are found in tap water. Current standards do not prohibit the presence of pesticides and metabolites in water, but set limit values for certain specific pesticides.

Problems :

➡️ We do not know the effect of these micro-exposures on long-term health.

➡️ Unregulated pesticides are potentially present in tap water.

➡️ There is no legal limit to the amount of drug residue in tap water.

➡️ Exceedances of legal thresholds have been detected in 9,000 municipalities in France since 2021.

➡️ The same substances are not monitored from one region to another.

Filters, a false good idea

So, do we filter our tap water? Well, no (or at least we wouldn't recommend it 😰 )!

🫙 According to a study by UFC Que Choisir, filter carafes are useless, not to say harmful. Not only are they incapable of removing harmful substances from water, but worse still, they encourage the proliferation of bacteria. They also generate plastic and chemical waste.

🚰 Under-sink filters, such as softeners or osmosis units, remove limescale and all the minerals. As a result, you're drinking iron water that's unfit for human consumption. Your skin may be soft, but you're putting your body at risk.

🎍 Binchotan and ceramic beads can eliminate the taste of chlorine but have no effect on chemical contaminants such as pesticides.

What about limescale in tap water?

Ah, limescale! Did you know that there is no limescale in tap water? In fact, it's calcium ions dissolved in the water. These calcium ions are not harmful to health. On the contrary, calcium is an essential mineral for our bodies. It helps build bones and teeth, as well as other important bodily functions. So it's best not to eliminate it. With LAVIE, calcium is preserved in its liquid form and its bad taste is eliminated! * ✌🏼Et if you wish to heat the water treated by your purifier, limescale formation will be halved.

I have a family. Which purifier suits best to my needs?

You are a big family, choose LaFontaine! 😍 LaFontaine provides you with 5 purified water litres in one go only. If you like the fountain system, this purifier is for you.

LAVIE Pure is ideal for families. You can select up to 6 bottles of water and purify them in several stages. The distribution method, by the bottle, is more traditional.

LAVIE Premium XL has the same features as LAVIE Pure, except that you can use it to hold sparkling water bottles from your gas machine.

How do I start the water purifier?

Simply place the purifier on a stable surface near an electrical socket, connect the power adaptor to the purifier and then plug it into the mains socket. The base of the purifier will emit a light that flashes three times (green-blue-green) to indicate compatibility with the DC adapter. Your purifier is now ready to use. 😎

Is UV disinfection necessary for my domestic water?

In everyday language, we talk about UV disinfection. It refers to UV-C purification and not the UV-A purification that corresponds to our technology. UV-C acts only against pathogens in the water, preventing them from reproducing. They are effective if you do not have access to drinking water, such as water from a stream. At home, where the tap water is already drinkable, UV-C disinfection is ... unnecessary. 😅 It's like a sword in the water

Is the purifier automatic?

Yes !

Simply place the LAVIE bottle in the purifier. A built-in sensor
automatically detects the presence of the bottle. The LEDs light up
in blue across the entire height of the purifier.

At the end of the treatment, 15 minutes by default, the LEDs go out. The
bottle containing water that has now been purified can be removed from
the case for immediate consumption or be placed in the
refrigerator.

How does the purifier work against bacteria and other contaminants?

UV-A radiation causes photolysis of the chlorine. This reaction eliminates the chlorine. This process generates free radicals with a strong oxidising power that
attack contaminants in the water, such as traces of medication,
bacteria, traces of pesticides ...)

Does the purifier prevent limescale build-up?

Yes 👍

There's no limescale in tap water, just calcium, which is the main source of calcium.

Is the purifier really worthwhile from an economic point of view?

Can a 0.5 litre LAVIE bottle be used with a 1 litre purifier?

Yes! 🤩

How do I fill the bottle?

At the tap, of course!🤪 Make sure you don't fill your LAVIE bottle to the top: leave 1 or 2 cm of air. During the treatment, the water heats up slightly (1 or 2°C), and if there isn't a little air to allow the water to expand, the pressure created creates a risk that the bottle will break.

Is UV-A light from purifiers dangerous?

No! ✌🏼 The entire device has been validated by SGS for its light safety because we use UV-A, not B or C. Our safety class even allows you to stare at the light for three hours without retinal damage. Approvals are noted in the leaflet.

Does the LAVIE purifier affect the PH of the water?

No 🙅‍♀️ The quality of your tap water is regulated and subject to health checks. Its PH is legally set at between 6.5 and 8.5: there's no need to adjust it.

Is a LAVIE water purifier a tap water filter?

No, a LAVIE water purifier is not a tap water filter in the traditional sense of the term. LAVIE purifiers use a unique technology based on UV-A photolysis to purify water. Unlike conventional filters, which retain physical and chemical impurities by trapping them in a filter material, LAVIE eliminates contaminants such as chlorine, pesticides and drug residues by using UV light to trigger a reaction that breaks down these substances.

In short, LAVIE does not filter water, but purifies tap water in a more advanced way, preserving essential minerals while eliminating undesirable substances.

How should I maintain my LAVIE purifier?

No maintenance is required 🕺 However, when in use, certain volatiles or dust that are barely visible to the naked eye may settle at the bottom of the tube. These can obstruct the detection lens, forcing you to constantly plug and unplug the device. To get rid of it, simply vacuum the inside of the tube with a small hoover tip, or blow it out with a hairdryer, for example. How do I set the duration of the purification treatment?

By default, your purifier is set to standard mode (treatment time: 15 minutes). To adjust the time, turn the purifier over and locate the small push button on the underside of the base. The button is protected and you will need a small point to press it. When pressed, the purifier will emit a blue light, indicating that it has switched to intermediate mode (treatment time: 22 minutes). When you press it again, the purifier will emit a red colour red, indicating that it has switched to intensive mode (treatment time: 30 minutes). Pressing it again returns the purifier to standard mode, emitting a green light. emitting a green light (treatment time: 15 minutes).

How long does a LAVIE purifier last?

The UV-A LEDs have an over 10 years lifespan (manufacturer's data).
